1. When his father died, George prayed. He prayed for hours because he wanted God to make him feel more grief. He was terrified that he did not care enough, that his father dying left him free, that he was the worst of all bad sons, that his brothers were right to see him not as the benjamin but as the cuckoo's spawn. 2. George is terrified that his women friends will leave him, that they will die like Meredith keeps nearly doing, or go mad like Izzy keeps doing, or that he simply will not understand where they go when they go inside their heads, like Cristina or his wife. He does not understand any of them or how they go on with their lives when they are so beautiful and smart, or why they bother with him, when he has a face like a potato and has to run so hard to do the stuff they dance through. 3. George thinks he understands Alex, that Alex has no inner life or morals or desires or dreams. George is totally wrong.
