(no subject)

I've been getting a white screen on startup, sometimes the moment I turn things on, and after the machine has been resting. So far I've been able to work around this by pressing F12 or by the three-fingered salute followed by going cancel on green screen. I have run virus and malware and rootkit checks, including a boot virus scan. The machine is about a year old, the monitor about two.
