The Texas Supreme Court here has declared violent exorcism a practice covered by constitutional protection of religious freedom. Given the extent to which religious loons use exorcism as a way of bullying LGBT teens, this is effectively a queerbasher's charter, apart from anything else. If I take this a bit seriously, it is because one of my ex-flat-mates was whipped insensible. with barbed wire by her father in an attempt to persuade her that she was not trans because he believed/had been told she was possessed.
