I sat down to the site at 11 last night and finished reading it at 1:20am. The art is fabulous, of course, and it's a fantastic sci-fi, tho' I won't spoil the ending for anyone having not read. The writer just weaves everything in the story around into itself quite nicely, and in the sense that Susan's trying to save the world from itself, I guess it also qualifies as a fantasy. X3! And I was listening to Ani DiFranco when I began reading, so that was a little mindblowing while being introduced to Susan's character. There's just a couple of things that get me, though.
The characters are well-cast and rounded, they seem as much a part of the scenery of the story as any given lamp post or tree. I just don't play well with them, at all...the story itself was great, but there honestly wasn't one person in it I feel I could sit down to coffee with and not eventually come to blows. I definitely wouldn't bestow any of them omnipotence such as displayed in the story. Also, they dissed my religion quite a bit with harsh generalities that seemed a little out-of-character for the enlightened, judge-not-lest-ye-be-judged character(s). In fact, they made it fictional, and that took a while to wrap my brain around and read on in spite of, even knowing it was just a story. There is a little more that I could say, but again with not spoiling the ending...it really is a great sci-fi piece with some very good messages, and worth anyone's time to read at least once.
