Hi! I found your journal through catching a later post about the JB situation on my friendsfriendslist, and I followed it back and poked around a little, following up all the JB stuff. I just wanted to thank you for this post in particular. I am a white, American, queer-identified bisexual, mostly cisgender woman. (I say "mostly" because I do basically identify as a woman, but only with "queer" as an added identifier because it creates space for the ways in which I don't feel like a "woman" and the ways in which my sexuality is far more complex than "bisexual.")

Anyway! All that is to say that I don't identify as transgender, but I try hard to be an ally, and I'm always looking to learn and examine gender and sexuality issues more fully and complexly. And this post was AWESOME! Though it was a response to a specific person and situation, it's so densely packed with history and complexity, and yet so clear and straightforward. I'm bookmarking it to my del.icio.us account because I would love to be able to point people to it when trans issues in feminism come up for discussion. Are you okay with that??

Again, thanks so much--for this post, for your clarity and perspective, and for all your years of fighting the good fight on these issues. I really appreciated reading your insights and analysis.
