I just watched Ultraviolet - not the show but the movie with Mila J. Far more than Aeon Flux, it is a total triumph of style over content - a movie in which CGI takes over - and yet somehow it has a mad existentialist intensity at moments which made me rather like it. This is a heroine who thinks she has nothing left to love, decides she has and frakks up the shit of anyone who gets in her way, even the people who are in theory on her side. Rubbish, but it filled in a post-migraine evening.

I was not going to let rain put me off going to Pride so I guess I am not going to let the faint possibility of terrorist outrage do it either. I resent being told to act as normal because it is the British way of life, though, because for years that is exactly what Pride was, people doing what they would normally do in the face of hatred, ridicule and contempt. I will go on Pride because Islamist and Christianist nutters all over the world are killing my brothers, sisters and other siblings in the name of their damned faiths and I am not going to be threatened out of marching in solidarity. If some people in the US and here are staying home because they think the battle is one, that just proves that the straight community does not have a monopoly on selfish asshats. I march at Pride for the sake of all the people who can't. Also because there are a lot of very cute people to look at - and lust is also a political manifestation in this context, damnit.

That is just brilliant. I think I'll be quoting that at people.

Rubbish

yes, but it's rubbish with Milla J. in it. So are the Resident Evil movies, which I find strangely captivating.

raises glass toward London

We had a splendid Pride weekend here, but then, we generally do, what with it being San Francisco.

When you remember that the police will have cleared the route the risk is, as you say, pretty bloody minimal. Have a nice day, hope it stays nice for you (and for me, since I'm about to head out to the market).

And Ultraviolet is mindless silly fun, but has a little feeling behind it. I have no problems with that. Really must get around to watching the live action Aeon Flux some time (already have the animated films)

You go girl. I wasn't planning on going mostly because I was afraid of all the lastyeardejavue shit, but I'm pretty pissed that London decided to run you the parade.

On the other hand, I don't think that the Pride is a good target for a terrorist. I thought about it yesterday and I think they would think that the rest of British society wouldn't care if they blow up perverts. This is the christian fundie mindset, because they hate the perverts. The islamist fundies hate the straights, the perverts are so far out they can't even properly concieve of them. I mean, look at the score so far: buildings full of lawyers and bankers, commuters, a Ladies' night at Tiger Tiger.

I feel rather confident that Torture Garden will not be chosen as a target, ever.

I missed you - and idiotically hadn't brought anyone's phone number with me, believing my huge platforms would allow me to spot anyone in the crowd. Sorry. I variously sauntered with TransLondon, the bi brigade and some very nice Club Wotever people I met in a toilet.

Hope you didn't get soaked, and saw hot people.

Now, that's weird, because I was with TransLondon and the Femmes after Oxford Circus and also with one or two of the Wotevers.

I had a great time but my phone stopped working and so I could not contact anyone. I realized you must have been there, because some people had already got the flier.

Ah, I peeled off half way down Regents Street and wandered into Soho to dry off.
You may have met my previous companions lugging the Whatever, whenever, whichever, whoever etc banner - J had a beret with a badge showing Blake and Avon huggling.

Didn't see that... Shame I missed you.

What are you doing later today?
