Oh, and apparently Ben Summerskill has announced that he will not negotiate with a gun to his head.

I've always found that that is a very good time to negotiate, myself...I don't think that I will be making the call to him, because I might lose my temper. Stonewall can exclude and ignore trans people for a decade, and yet, when we actually start making such a fuss that they have to be aware of the fact, they complain about our manners. An organization named after one of OUR riots complains about our manners?!

More to the point, why does Ben think he needs to 'negotiate' at all. After all Steonewall (sic) allegedly are an LGBT organisation so 'T' should be part of that remit.

Except that I've only ever known them to act on the 'G' and 'L' facets when pushed and almost never the 'B'. Maybe he thinks the 'T' is silent as in Jean Harlot?

Though Stonewall Scotland *is* T inclusive. I get the impression they are more than a little embarrassed by their parent organisation.

LGBT Youth, which was set up by Stonewall, is inclusive though - at least in Scotland. I suspect this is simply because bi and trans youth involved themselves.

this explains why he's not returned my call when he specifically asked me to ring him to discuss it.

Do I detect somebody feeling a little heat and not sure how to back away ? I think he's actually painted himself into an embarrassing corner and feels stuck, so is toughing it out. I can't see a way out for him unless he reneges one or other of his grand positioning statements.I hope we get a big turnout on the 6th so's he can't ignore it.

Guns by the way are explosive devices. The only explosive device in this room is Stonewall's nomination of a transphobe for Journalist of the Year.The only who can defuse that is you Ben.
