Another Salieri moment

Some of you will recall this when I spotted a subtle use of quite obscure classical music in Iron Man. Glee 1.08 had another such moment . When Puck remembers how his mother tells him off during Schindler's List for not dating Jewish girls, his memory segues into a dream in which Rachel climbs into his room and he realizes that she is and always has been amazingly attractive, and that his involvement in persecuting her for uncoolness is internalized anti-semitism - and iffy as much of what Murphy does around minority stuff is, that was an interesting moment. As she climbs in through his window, a cello plays something Eastern European - and it's not from the movie, it is Shostakovich's second Piano Trio.
That's not arbitrary - it's a piece dedicated to a Jewish friend whom the Nazis killed, and for him to allude negatively to anti-semitism in the Stalinist and post-Stalinist USSR took a fair bit of guts. It's worth remembering how subtle and smart Murphy can be along with the crassness..
And speaking of Iron Man, wasn't this week's issue of Invincible Iron Man an amazingly cool piece of multiple pwnage of Norman Osborne? (Non-comics people - no, honestly, you had to be there.)
