I'd love to come--after spending so many years being in the same pub as you once a month and never meeting I would love to get to know you, if you were amenable--but it's a little too far. But yes, since you ask I would say you should definitely celebrate and allow yourself to be celebrated.

Many happy returns for whichever day it is.

Deep, introspective morning, followed by frivolous afternoon, leading into wild night. That's my recommendation.

I would love to come to your party, but there's this pesky ocean in the way. Maybe by your 70th they'll have transporter technology up and running. Or my 70th.

In any case, happy birthday and many, many more!

I turn 60 in December, and am scheming on a co-party with two friends who turn 40 and 50 this year. Knowing us, it will be brazen and mad and self-indulgent. (-:

The restaurant in Goldhawk Road where Ashley and Sue had their reception was pretty good.

You should have a party, but you should postpone it exactly one week, so that [livejournal.com profile] wild_irises and I can attend, because we couldn't get tickets to Waiting for Godot on the weekend of your birthday.

It would be great to see you again, but I'm not due to be back in the UK until next year at the earliest, so waah! But I do hope you have a very happy birthday, whatever you decide to do!

You have my antipodean congratulations! I would love to present them in person, but it's a bit far to walk.

Should I have a 60th Birthday party at all or treat it as a day of deep morning

I've had many a deep morning. Usually preceded by a shallow evening.

Sadly there is an ocean between us. But you should DEFINITELY celebrate the hell out of this! :-)

Roz! The first question doesn't permit a yes or no answer! In case of doubt, my 'yes' is to the party, not to the mourning, and for the second question, the answer is 'both' - restaurant with your intimates, then the pub for all the other people (including people you've previously known only online?) who want to celebrate your birthday with you.

I unfortunately won't be able to attend any festivities, but just the same, I'm just popping in to say that you don't look like you're approaching 60, so maybe you could advertise it a 50th birthday party ;-)

Provided I'm mobile by whenever it is, and in town, absolutely!

Since I'm not likely to fly in from the USelessA, I probably don't rate an opinion. But. I'm going to be there in two years (60, not England), and I think partying is entirely the way to go. Consider the alternative, and celebrate! If I were in England for the event, I'd be there, you bet.

Have a wonderful time. And happy birthday!
