Oh, and I am up for that meme where you ask me to tell you three or more things about my private personal fanon for characters in shows, comics, films and books that I care about. Shows, right now, would be Jossverse, Grey's, Betty, Heroes, Nip/Tuck, Dirt, Big Love, and so on.

Jossverse and Veronica Mars please :)

But which characters?

OK Here are three things about Faith.
1. She is the sort of masochist we call a Pushy Bottom who will do anything to get the targets of her desires to punish her. This is a dangerous game and when she said to Buffy, after the stabbing, 'You finally did it B' it was not clear even to Faith whether she meant that Buffy had killed her or that she had made her come.
2. She is far more of a Catechism Catholic than she would ever admit. Sometimes when she is in an almost trance-like ecstasy of vampire-killing, she realizes that she has been saying the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary in her head for some time.
3. She was not joking when she mentioned to Buffy how young and cute she found Giles. He put her in the motel, bad choice as that was, because he knew that he would find her in his bed one night when he was too drunk to remember he was a Watcher.

Alexis, from Betty.

Date: 2007-05-18 11:24 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rozk.livejournal.com
1. Alexis had always wondered whether, if she returned, Daniel would hit on her and how she would feel about that. It was partly a way to be mean to him, a way that she had never been able to explore before, and partly a way of punishing him for being someone who would never understand her choices, and partly just an incredible naughty turn-on. She'd never have let it go anywhere; on the other hand, if he hadn't cut Becks out, she would have fucked Becks and told him who she was afterwards.
2. She does not really believe how beautiful she now is; every time Wilhelmina makes a remark about 'manhands', she keeps it together for as long as she has to, but goes and cries when she gets a chance.
3. She periodically thinks that Betty is far too good an assistant for an idiot like her brother and that she really ought to try and persuade her to come work for her. Then she realizes that, without Betty, Daniel would be more of an embarrassment than he is, and that actually she wants to hurt him a bit, but not as much as he would be hurt without Betty.

Three things about poor neglected sidekick Wallace from Veronica Mars, if you please.

Date: 2007-05-18 11:34 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rozk.livejournal.com
1. Wallace never got over being strung up on the flagpole by Weevil. He has never understood why Veronica tries to domesticate someone that dangerous and has always waited for Weevil to turn around and bite her. If Weevil ever seriously hurt Veronica, Wallace would quietly think 'I told you so' even though he never did, and do everything in his power to make Weevil a very sorry man indeed.
2. When Veronica finally told Wallace the truth about her relationship with Duncan - that he had screwed her when roofied while under the misapprehension that she was his sister- Wallace felt like a provincial hick anthropologist who would never understand Rich White People and their degenerate folkways.
3. Wallace suspects that Veronica does not even begin to understand that the bliss he gets from a great basket or a good pass is the closest he comes to how she feels when she cracks a case or how Mac feels about a good hack. He is a smart boy who lives in his head some of the time, but he also lives in his body. The reason he has never shown much sexual interest in either woman is that he suspects they wouldn't work - too much sex in the head.

Christian Troy from Nip/Tuck, please!

Date: 2007-05-18 11:42 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rozk.livejournal.com
1. Christian always wanted to fuck Ava Moore and that did not stop when he discovered that she had been sleeping with his son, or when he discovered that she had once been a man. Sometimes he still dreams about her - she looks at him out of a mirror and says 'Christian, Christian, we are kin you and I. We both remade ourselves for the man we loved, you as a stud and me as a whore, but we are brothers and sisters in desire and change.' And then he wakes up and he is in a sweat and has cramps in his thighs.
2. Christian would have cut off his own hand to save Sean's thumbs. He will hate Quentin forever for teaching him that truth. He does not know that he would ever fuck Sean, even if he could, or let Sean fuck him, and he also knows that that does not matter at all. He can sleep with as many women as he likes, but he is a man in love with a man and that will never change.
3. Michelle was Christian's drug - he blackmailed her into sex to forget Sean. He fought James for her and bought her from James by taking money from Dawn Budge for sex. He worries that, if Michelle had asked him to help her steal organs, he would have done that for her too. He does not know whether or not she killed Burt Landau, but he ran away to LA so as not to have to know. He dreads that she will follow him, and what she could get him to do.

One more. Hilda from Ugly Betty.

Date: 2007-05-19 12:06 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rozk.livejournal.com
1. Kissing Daniel scared Hilda. Here was this perfect shiny man from her sister's new world and suddenly Hilda knew something that Betty is too innocent to know, which is that the very rich are different and will do whatever they want. If Daniel had asked her, she would have left her sister and her son and flown with him to Timbuktu and dressed in scented pink leather and eaten barbecued lizards in a bed shaped like a seashell. He didn't, he broke the kiss and dashed away on business, but she is scared that he and his world are a drug to which she could learn addiction.
2. When she wakes in the night, because Santos has pulled all the bedclothes on top of himself and is snoring on his back, Hilda thinks about what it would be like to be fat and forty and still that woman with the slut cleavage and the tight satin pants and still alone. Then she thinks of Santos at forty with a beer gut and opinions on everything and not being able to cook him dinner without burning it. Then she counts imaginary hairstyles in her head until she goes to sleep.
3. Hilda loves her son. She thinks he is God's gift to her, where the nuns would have told her that he was the punishment for her sin of fornication. He is happy and shiny and sings and dances and tells her what to wear. She knows, with the certainty of faith in God, that no-one will ever hurt him and that they will love him as much as she does.

1. Jail did not scare Weevil straight, but it scared him fat. There were men there that looked at him and clicked their teeth and sucked their lips at him. He knew that he could take them in a fight, most of them, but he knew that was the way to ensure that he stayed in jail forever, with sentence piled on sentence. So he got himself on duty in the chow hall and he stole food; he ate mashed potatoes fried in lard until his face broke out in spots and he had to get new overalls, and no-one clicked their teeth at him again.
2. Weevil often thought of how he might kill Sherriff Lamb and not get caught, even by Keith or Veronica. Lamb had stopped him graduating, had humiliated his grandmother; breaking each limb into splinters with a baseball bat that Weevil would then smash into his sneering eyes would just begin to pay that bill, but it was not worth going to jail again for. Then someone killed Lamb, and Weevil was shocked that he cried himself to sleep that night.
3. Weevil dreams of Veronica a lot, but never of having sex with her. He dreams of watching her with Logan, or with Lily, and her looking at him with those piercing eyes and knowing his every itch of lust to the core. He thinks that God must be like Veronica on judgement day, except that God does not crop up in your sexual fantasies.

Good stuff

1. When his father died, George prayed. He prayed for hours because he wanted God to make him feel more grief. He was terrified that he did not care enough, that his father dying left him free, that he was the worst of all bad sons, that his brothers were right to see him not as the benjamin but as the cuckoo's spawn.
2. George is terrified that his women friends will leave him, that they will die like Meredith keeps nearly doing, or go mad like Izzy keeps doing, or that he simply will not understand where they go when they go inside their heads, like Cristina or his wife. He does not understand any of them or how they go on with their lives when they are so beautiful and smart, or why they bother with him, when he has a face like a potato and has to run so hard to do the stuff they dance through.
3. George thinks he understands Alex, that Alex has no inner life or morals or desires or dreams. George is totally wrong.

Ugly Betty. Marc St James. Because there was a moment in a recent ep where I suddenly started loving him a lot.

Date: 2007-05-19 03:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rozk.livejournal.com
1. Marc likes to talk as if he was the cute flexible love slave of chunky men in black leather that he meets on line and in night clubs that are totally over by the time anyone has heard their names. He conveys the impression that his sex life is a matter of sweat, danger, darkness, wet grimy walls and sudden shocks of ecstasy and pain. Mostly, in the evening, he watches old musicals and muscle men on cable and drinks cups of low-calory soup.
2. He entirely told the truth about his crush on Daniel. When Daniel became editor, Wil told Marc to watch him like a hawk and Marc tailed him for days, whenever Daniel left the building. He went to smart restaurants and hid behing the menu as Daniel peered into the cleavages of models and patted the bottoms of cocktail waitresses. He took notes and he watched and he found himself paying altogether too much interest. Daniel was so unattainable, but he was such a delicious joke of a man; thinking what he would be like in bed became an irresistible fantasy, simply because Marc had so much data on which to build.
3. Making a dress from bubblewrap and staples was some of the most fun Marc had had since kindergarten. He wishes it had not been all about dragging her further into Wilhelmina's webs. He sees the scorn with which Christina looks at him and knows he deserves it. He wishes they could be friends and knows that they never will be.
4. Every time he does something terrible for Wilhelmina, Marc wonders what she might ask him to do that would be too much, would be the point at which he walks away from her into the outer darkness that would be all that would be left for him. Everyone hates him, except Amanda, and no one would protect him if Wilhelmina decided to destroy him. There must be this one dreadful thing he wouldn't do, that he couldn't do. He is not totally her flying monkey. He hopes.

Zoe from Firefly. Or, if you're not into Firefly, Dawn Summers from BtVS.

Date: 2007-05-19 04:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rozk.livejournal.com
1. Zoe always assumed that she would die first. She'd been a warrior all her life and she was almost always the one who got shot at when Mal involved them all in his gorram stupid schemes. When you're a warrior, there's always the bullet that you can't duck, and that isn't a flesh wound. It worried her, a little, because she didn't know how Wash would cope with losing her. She had hidden little notes all over Serenity in places where he'd find them, and even found ways of planting things in the computer, just to feed him little bits of her love for the rest of his life. Now he was gone instead and she had to cope with how to live without him. So she went looking, because that was the one thing she could do, and she found that every note she had left had a note from him tucked inside it.
2. The first time Zoe watched River piloting the ship, she thought she would break inside. River's hands darted around the controls so much more gracefully than Wash's ever had, so much more skilfully, but the sequences of movements, even the hesitations and pauses, were the same. It was as if Wash's movements had been a faded copy of River's and yet she knew that River had learned by watching him, that River was the copy. It reminded Zoe that she must never ever fight River; if it became needful to kill her, best to do it from a distance.
3. Jayne made his move in the first bar where they went drinking; he put his hand on Zoe's thigh and Zoe broke his wrist. Inara suggested delicately that she show Zoe some ways of meditating your way through grief and Zoe smiled and said no. Kaylee and Simon just made a point of not holding hands in front of her. Mal kept falling uncharacteristically quiet whenever she was in the room. In the end, Zoe pulled a farmboy on board, screwed him for the five days it took Mal to find a cargo and then threw him out off the boat before they left. It didn't help, but it got them all to behave normally again; she was a widow, not a broken child.

Buffy herself!

Date: 2007-05-19 08:16 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rozk.livejournal.com
1.Buffy knew that Angel loved her, and also knew that what he loved was the drama involved in loving her, the whole duty/honour/love thing and the slayer/vampire thing. Giles once said that it was poetic, in a mawkish sort of way; actually, he must have said it more than once, because he told her he had said it to Angel. She also knew that he loved Cordelia more than he loved her, and that he loved Darla more than either of them. He loved the idea of what loving Cordelia could make him become; he loved the scent of Darla's undead breath and the touch of her hand and her nails in his back and that irritating breathy voice telling him to move faster or slower. She was aware that she thought about all this far too much.
2. If Buffy didn't love Spike, it was because Angel had left her unsure of what love was. Sex with Angel was one time that made her weak and cry and ended in disaster; sex with Spike was time after time pounding away and anger and desire and pleasure and the smell of dirty leather, hairbleach and old cigarettes in her nose. After she died and came back, she was not the girl who loved Angel; she wasn't ready to love Spike, but he was the best way of passing the time she ever found.
3. Looking back on it, she realized when they met again, that she had been completely clueless about Faith. She had really thought that drawing a heart with a stake through it on a breath-steamed window was just a cute way of saying come slay. She didn't get why Faith went evil, why Faith wanted to steal her body. She kept thinking now that sometime they should talk, but the embarrassment involved meant being fearless in ways she wasn't ready for yet.

Comics: Emma Frost

TV: Nathan Petrelli

Date: 2007-05-19 08:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rozk.livejournal.com
1. Emma knows that Kitty will never like or trust her. She knows that is a consequence of her own actions. She sometimes regrets it, but knows it is good to have someone's disdain to measure herself against - if she ever makes Kitty relax around her, it will mean that she has become good at last.
2. The costume was something she let Sebastian Shaw talk her into when she was young and smug. These days it is a necessary burden - maintaining herself so that she looks good in it without illusion is a mortification of the flesh and a discipline of the mind.
3. Sometimes, when she is by herself, she turns into the diamond just to get some peace and quiet, even though the transition in and out of flesh cuts her like a million shards.

Date: 2007-05-19 08:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rozk.livejournal.com
1. Even though it cost him almost everything, even though it was a wrong call, Keith still knows in his heart that the day he busted Jake Kane was one of the high points of his life. Busting Aaron Echols was just, and only, a bonus by comparison.
2. If she had offered, Keith would have slept with Kendall and dealt with conseuqences afterwards. Being short, fat and bald is sometimes the best protection a man can have in this wicked world.
3. Keith plants bugs and cameras on his daughter far more than she will ever know; it is for her own good and his reassurance. Also, he knows that from time to time he learns things from her.

Tell me about Callie, from Grey's anatomy?

Date: 2007-05-20 11:36 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rozk.livejournal.com
1. When Callie was eight, she read a lot of books about the ballet. Whenever her family went to New York, her father took her to see the ballet, but he wouldn't let her take classes. 'You're my little cupcake,' he'd say, 'and dancers are breadsticks.' When she pressed him, he told her that no daughter of his was ever going to dance in public for money; 'I work so that you don't have to do that sort of thing', he said. She wanted to be a doctor even more than she had wanted to dance, or to have a pony, but it always bothered her that it was one of the things that her father would let her be.
2. Bones for Callie are things with clear firm edges that are broken, and can be made whole with pins and pressure; she does not like organs like the heart, or the brain, that are soft and can be crushed and have to be squeezed and stitched. She hates mess, that's the thing, and keeping your emotions clear and focused is the least messy thing she knows; when your heart is broken, there is no putting it back together with pins and pressure.
3. Callie slept with Mark because she felt life owed her one small sin; everyone around her gets away with sin all the time and she knows that she is a good person. Addison is a good person too, Callie knows that, and yet she sins all the time, so maybe it doesn't matter. She wanted to know just once how it would feel.

Death from Sandman.

Date: 2007-05-20 11:47 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rozk.livejournal.com
1. Death loves her family all the more because she knows that one day she will be the last person each of them sees. Death has been there at the end for each of her brothers and her sisters when they died, and will be there for their replacements. She took their hands and smiled and made jokes and took them where they needed to be. She wonders, idly because Death does not obsess about things, who will be there for her at the end of all things, when the lights go out and she is the last to leave.
2. Death does not play favourites. She has the same smile for a goldfish as for a star and really, she loves them all. Which is not to say that she doesn't like it when the dead sing her the last verse their death song, or greet her as the friend they never met before, but know instantly. Mostly, they pass her way just once, but manners make her long days go more smoothly.
3. If Death did not laugh, she would weep. Weeping would depress her clients, so she does not weep. Laughing cheers them up, some of them. Death is kind by nature, but it is also by far the best way.

Can a girl sneak in Rome? 'Cause I want Vorenus and his dark twisty brains.

If not, then Cristina.

Date: 2007-05-20 01:43 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rozk.livejournal.com
1. Vorenus knows that he should not have hesitated before killing Niobe; he also knows that she was the best wife she could be. She had Evander's child; she was, for all she knew, a widow at the time. He should have killed her; she killed herself to save him from committing an injustice. This is why he lets his children hate him, because if he had done the righteous thing, they ought to because he cursed them; if he sinned, it is his punishment.
2. Vorenus did not mind that Cleopatra was a bad woman, because she was not a Roman and knew no better. She was his master's woman and he would serve her, or kill her, as his master required. She was also the mother of his friend's son, however much she had lied about that. When she asked him to save the boy, it allowed him to leave her alive in her other treacheries without second thoughts and without regret.
3. Dying at home in his own bed with his children pious around him and his friend who had brought him home at his side was the easiest thing Vorenus ever had to do. He knew that he had been a good man, on the whole, who had served his masters and served the Republic, as far as both had been possible, and who had been ill-served by the Fates. He was, though he never used the title after the Ides of March, a Senator of Rome, and a soldier of the Thirteenth Legion, and the Judges would owe him some respect. His wife had slipped over the balcony and paid any debts she owed him. If Niobewas not waiting for him when the boatman Charon brought him across Lethe, if she was in Tartarus or wherever else adultresses went, he would ask for her politely, first, and then break open any gates that kept him from her. That was all.
